"Melaya Laf" Which translates as a "Folk Women Garment" for Clarinet B-flat and Arabic Tabla-tambourine .
This composition is to be performed with the display of a particular comical caricature which was published in Egyptian newspaper "Akhbar Al-Yom" Oct. 10, 1957 of a fame Egyptian caricaturist called "Sarukhan".
The composer Abdel-Wahab uses in the introduction sound materials from the dialogue of well known Egyptian movie "Qasr El-Shoq".
In this caricature picture the woman wears a “Melaya Laf” which is the type of garment. In the past, Egyptian women would go shopping wearing traditional folk garment "Melaya Laf". She adds a head scarf with a brightly colored decoration and puts on an ankle bracelet. In the road, a man flirts with her. She enjoys his attention. All the people in the village gossip about the two of them. Maybe, maybe not, he will go to her father to ask to marry her.
